Cancer Claims

Cancer claims can result from delayed diagnosis or incorrect diagnosis. Where opportunities for diagnosis are missed and the condition has developed to a more advanced stage, the delay may make a serious difference to the outcome. Sometimes, the effects are extremely serious. Other problems arise when patients are misdiagnosed with cancer. Some people have undergone unnecessary medical procedures and others have developed a severe psychological reaction to the belief that they are terminally ill.

Causes of a delayed diagnosis or incorrect diagnosis of cancer can arise as a result of:-

  • Failure to administer the correct tests by either the General Practitioner or hospital;
  • Failure to investigate adequately;
  • A misinterpretation of x-rays and scans;
  • Failure to refer to secondary care.
